Legendary Japanese fashion designer issei Miyaki has died from liver cancer on August 5, at age 84.

His death was announced by the Miyake Design Studio. They attributed it to the designer`s struggle with lung cancer.

Issey Miyaki was an influential Japanese fashion designer known for intricate pleats and signature perfumes all around the world.

He was the designer behind the statement black turtlenecks worn by apple co-founder steve jobs.
Miyaki was one of the first Japanese designers to show in Paris. His works quickly positioned Japan as a fashion and pop culture hub in the international community and paved the way for contemporaries like Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo.

Issey Miyaki,i originally named miyaki katsumaru was born on april 22nd 1938 in hiroshima japan.

Miyaki was seven years old when the US dropped an atomic bomb on the city and later walked with a limp due to the ordeal.

Miyaki founded his own fashion house, Miyaki Design Studio but worked from a young age with fashion greats like Geoffrey Beene and Hubert de Givenchy,

In 1971 the first issue Miyaki collection was launched in new york and was shown during Paris fashion week in 1973.

In 1970, his avant-garde creations became influential in the fashion of the 1980s and In 1993, Miyaki introduced his Pleats Please line.

His name would continue to be remembered in the world of fashion.
